The Appointment

Barnaby Stewart Executive Search is seeking an experienced clinical executive to join a substantial Senior Living operator as Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations and Quality.

The position will carry responsibility for clinical performance across a multi-state portfolio of assisted living and memory care communities.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful individual will provide senior leadership to the clinical function while working closely with regional operations, community leadership and the wider executive team.

This is an enterprise-level appointment requiring a senior clinical operator who understands the commercial realities of Senior Living as well as the regulatory and care responsibilities of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership of clinical operations across the portfolio.
  • Lead and develop the regional clinical leadership structure.
  • Establish consistent clinical standards across all communities.
  • Improve state survey performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee clinical risk, incident review and corrective action.

  • Work alongside operations to ensure resident acuity is properly assessed and supported.
  • Improve clinical recruitment, retention and agency utilisation.
  • Strengthen care planning, service delivery and resident outcomes.
  • Advise the Chief Operating Officer and executive leadership team on clinical performance and risk.
  • Support community and regional leaders where performance requires intervention.
  • Ensure clinical systems remain effective as the organisation grows.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse with significant senior leadership experience within the US Senior Living sector.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • Clinical responsibility across a substantial multi-state portfolio.
  • Experience within assisted living and memory care.
  • Leadership of regional clinical teams.
  • Direct involvement in acquisitions, portfolio transitions or organisational growth.
  • A record of improving survey and regulatory performance.
  • Experience addressing clinical labour costs and agency reliance.
  • Strong knowledge of resident assessment and care planning.
  • The ability to work effectively with senior operating executives.
  • Clear evidence of measurable improvement across previous portfolios.

Candidates whose experience has remained primarily at community or regional level are unlikely to meet the requirements of the position.
