Our Client a prominent and rapidly expanding UK multi-utility infrastructure provider that delivers electricity, gas, water, and fibre connections for major development projects across the country.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a high-calibre Commercial / Sales Director to lead national business development and help drive the business towards becoming the UK’s leading multi-utility connector.
This is a pivotal leadership appointment for a commercially minded sales leader who thrives on autonomy, strategy, and high-value growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Board, the Commercial / Sales Director will be responsible for transforming the sales function into a proactive, high-performance growth engine. You will lead national market expansion while building strong relationships with key clients across the UK development and construction landscape.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and executing a national sales strategy to grow market share across the utilities sector.
• Leading the full business development cycle, from lead generation and networking through to tender conversion.
• Managing senior relationships with housebuilders, industrial developers, consultants, and main contractors.
• Providing strategic direction to estimating and proposals teams to ensure submissions are competitive and commercially robust.
• Leading, mentoring, and motivating a national team of Business Development Managers.
• Building a strong, target-driven culture rooted in technical expertise and exceptional service.
The Candidate
We are looking for a proven “hunter” with a sophisticated understanding of the UK utilities market and a strong record of winning business in complex, technical environments.
You will need:
• Proven success in a senior sales leadership role within multi-utility, power, or civil infrastructure.
• Strong experience delivering revenue growth in the UK development or utilities sector.
• Deep understanding of the UK housing market, industrial development, and utility accreditation frameworks including NERS, GIRS, and WIRS.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience leading sales teams.
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with a track record of motivating high-performing teams.
• An established network of contacts across Tier 1 contractors and major UK developers.
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining commercially hands-on.
